Department of Structural Engineering
Structural Engineering exposes students to meet up the changes and complexity in structural designing. The seismic vulnerability of Pakistan associated to its proximity with Continental boundaries enhances the importance of role of structural engineers. The existing seismic settings along with expansion of cities and urbanization has further added in the complexities. Here at Department of Structural Engineering the students are exposed to these challenges and are enabled to mitigate the effects. We are offering Post Graduate programs including MS Structural Engineering and PhD Structural Engineering. The outcome of these programs is focused to provide in-depth knowledge of key disciplines of Structural Engineering such as Structural Dynamics, Advance Concrete Design, Advance Structural Mechanics, Advance Structural Materials, Design of Steel Structures, Prestressed Concrete Structures, Earthquake Engineering, Seismic Risk Assessment, Fire Engineering, Finite Element Method, Design of Masonry Structure, Rehabilitation and Retrofitting Design, Fire Engineering, Disaster Risk Assessment and Mitigation, Design of Deep Foundations, Earthquake Engineering, Performance Based Design, Stability of Structures, Earthquake Seismology and Earthquake Hazard etc.

With pleasure I welcome you to Department of Structural Engineering at National Institute of Transportation, NUST, Pakistan. Structural Engineering is one of the ancient studies and it is the cornerstone of development in the old and modern worlds. I am proud to head this wonderful Department. Here we are holding state of the art laboratories and the Department has now achieved a level of synergy through its committed and renowned faculty. We understand that structural engineers have one of the key roles to play in development and progress of Pakistan. Sustainable and economical structural designs are becoming mandatory to meet up the demands of economic constraints of the Country. Such demanding role can only be fulfilled through well trained human resource. We appreciate the environmental and physical complexities that need to be addressed. Realizing our role in the social and economic context of the challenges, we are organizing academic and research activity in the Department of Structural Engineering.
