Head of Department Message

Dr. Usama Khalid

Greetings from the Department of Geotechnical Engineering (DGE)!! As we are all aware that the world is going through incredible constructive transformations, and in education, its effects are obvious. We at DGE aim to be a part of this positive change utilizing our core strengths in Geomechanics, Soil Dynamics, Earth Structures, Geotechnical Design, Geoenvironmental Engineering and Numerical Modeling. Being an integral part of National Institution of Transportation (NIT), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) naturally helps the department and its programs integrate all the norms and values that have made the department an epitome of excellence. DGE, NIT offers graduate programs (MS and PhD) that include rigorous education and research, allowing students to tackle the complexity of engineering by liberating themselves from the constraints of mere technical competencies and assuming the position of an adept engineering expert. The MS and PhD courses are uniquely designed to train students with a holistic outlook. With a carefully designed syllabus, we keep up to the true NUST tradition of sensitizing ourselves with the latest trends in the industry. Our labs are equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment that allows students to synchronize themselves with the methodologies currently followed globally. Our emphasis on cutting-edge research offers the knowledge of modern technologies and applications ensuring that the students are well-informed and to-date with constructive changes in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. We are always looking forward for potential students who are enthusiastic to acquire remarkable educational and research experience. Please feel free to contact the department for any queries.
