NIT Faculty Invited to Chang’an University, Xi’an, China (7–15 November 2025)

Dr. Numan Ahmad (Assistant Professor & HoD (Research)) and Dr. Syed Kamran Hussain Shah (Assistant Professor & Director Acad.) were invited as visiting scholars to Chang’an University, Xi’an, China, from 7 to 15 November 2025. The visit was hosted by the School of Transportation Engineering and the School of Highway. During the visit, both faculty members participated in academic exchanges, research discussions, laboratory tours, and collaborative meetings with Chang’an University faculty and students.

Dr. Numan delivered two invited lectures:

  • “Harnessing Statistical Modelling and Machine Learning to Address Challenges in Transportation”
  • “Critical Road Safety Risk Factors in Developing Countries – Insights from Hospital and Field Data in Pakistan”

Dr. Kamran delivered an invited lecture titled:

  • “Sustainable Transportation Geotechnics: Transforming Recycled Materials into Resilient Transportation Infrastructure”

Both the faculty members also provided professional guidance on the development of the Engineering Research Center for Road Traffic Carbon Reduction under China’s Ministry of Education.

Their participation established academic ties between NIT (NUST) and Chang’an University and highlighted NIT’s growing international engagement in transportation research and education.
